I've been interested in cameras and taking photos for as long as I can remember. As a child in the late 80s, I remember my granny gifting me my first camera - a Kodak Instamatic with 110 film cartridges. In the early 90s, I had a 35mm compact and later my dad's old Canon A-1 SLR. I was an early adopter of digital photography buying my first in 1997 - The Fujifilm DX-7. It was pretty rubbish by today's standards, actually by all standards, but I loved the fact I could take more than 36 shots and I didn't have to wait a week to see the results.

In the early 2000s, I upgraded to a Fujifilm S602 zoom which was a really good camera at the time with 6 megapixels and a 3x zoom (200mm equivalent). This camera taught me about photography and kickstarted my passion. I purchased a few screw-in filters, including macro which started my love for macro photography. In 2006 I was involved in a serious car crash and unfortunately damaged the camera. Later that year I bought a new camera, a Canon 350 DSLR with the kit lenses. This is when everything changed, and the photos produced by this camera were finally comparable to traditional film cameras. With cheaper memory cards I could snap away indefinitely, instantly review and delete unwanted photos. I did a lot of experimentation, bought lots of lenses, flashes and other equipment and haven't looked back. Over the years I stayed with Canon upgrading to the 400d, 550d and currently the 80d.
